Alabama Drug Rehab/Treatment

ALCOHOL AND DRUG ADDICTION IS HURTING ALABAMA IN MANY WAYS

An increased need for effective drug and alcohol rehab and addiction treatment in Alabama is clearly evident as the drug and alcohol problem in Alabama continues to go unchecked and the progress of drug treatment facilities in Alabama hasn't come close to even being in a stalemate.

The lives of drug addicts, alcoholics and their loved ones are ruined as a result of drug or alcohol abuse and addiction, as well as the personal physical and mental health of the addict and, ultimately, the family.

Family relatioshships are stressed to the breaking point and, unfortunately, many times past this point. Jobs are jepordized and now that the economy is not booming, this reckless disregard for survival is becoming something that is very difficult to repair.

All too often drug and alcohol addiction leads to death or prison for the addict or alcoholic. The lives of addicts or alcoholics are consumed by the need for the next drug or drink at any cost. The energies of concerned loved ones are eaten up in attempts and failures to understand, aid, and find workable answers.

The end result is often an apathy of hoplessness, despair, and a failure to help, despite our best intentions. Meanwhile, anger and resentment influence the addicts or alcoholics attempts to get clean and sober as well as effecting loved ones attitudes and attempts to help.

Alabama statistics show that an estimated 246,000 individuals had an alcohol abuse or dependence problem in the 2005, while an estimated 113,000 individuals had an illicit drug abuse, dependence, or addiction problem.

Studies in Alabama also shows that an estimated 229,000 individuals in Alabama needed alcohol rehab treatment but did not receive it in 2005 and another estimated 92,000 individuals were in need of drug addiction treatment but did not receive it.
